Exploring Stress

Stress is a common symptom of our busy lives in modern society. I have worked with many clients who have struggled to manage stress for any number of reasons. There are two ways of conceptualising stress management, the first being how to deal with stressful situations in the moment and the second being how to develop resilience, perspective and wellbeing to reduce the level of stress caused by difficult situations. We have a lot of demands placed on us in modern society causing repetitive stimulation of the stress response. Understanding more about the parasympathetic nervous system and how to spend more time activating this system can enable you to manage and reduce your stress levels. In 1-1 work I also spend time helping my clients understand how their perception is increasing stress. Analysing and altering your thinking styles can help you to reduce stress and find more peace in our busy world. We now understand a lot more about how stress can impact on the immune system making us more susceptible to physical illness. Learning how to manage stress not only helps us improve our mental health but also our physical health. Please make contact if you would like some 1-1 support to help improve your ability to manage stress.
